Hello again from the 49th state!
Things up here are starting to cool off a bit. The coldest that I have seen it so far was -14 a few nights ago. Still not too much snow to do fun snow related activities. Job news is that the Australia gig looks as if it isn't going to work out. The hiring process was taking a very long time and there are lots of problems regarding work visas and background checks. Even though that is kind of a bummer, life has a way of working things out. The same day that I found out about Australia I also found out that since I have been doing such a great job on the projects that I am working on, the park is going to hire me on for 2 months as a media specialist.
My last project is currently featured on the NPS FB page and is making its rounds through other outlets but here is a link. They are 360 Degree interactive panoramas of various places in the park. Photographers vary, a few are mine, some are from climbing rangers and glacier surveys. The current media specialist just got a new job in Yellowstone and his position has not been filled. With projects piling up and my proven expertise the timing couldn't have been better. The paperwork takes 5 weeks to process so in the mean time I am headed to Hawaii for 5 weeks to backpack, hike, camp, surf, etc. on Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and the Big Island. I leave 12/7 and get back 1/14. Once I get back my main project is to redesign and update all the park bulletin boards (20). Hopefully I will also be shooting video for the Kennels about dog mushing, maybe flying, or anything else I can get my hands on. Also check out this fun Holiday video I did for the park
Hope everyone is doing well and if anyone has advice on Hawaii I am all ears.
